this based my opinion( maye kinda biased tho) bcz sometimes people misunderstood with hwaryun, im not deny that hwaryun action is problematic and confusing... but he’s not grown as riches, as we can see on his backstory he had rough time tho, as his mother dead, and how his father treat him and don’t forgot his brother tried to kill him tho.. He has rough time in the palace, he’s the crown prince but in palace people still tries to kill him and betray him.. and up untill now you can see to survive in this story you need to betray others ..
That’s just how Hwaryun choose to be cunning and manipulative, bcz he has trust issues..
And right now, as the trone is empty for me Hwaryun is good enough for Rahan, Hwaryun always do all the best he can for Rahan,. The evil all from this series for me is that consort..my predictions she will do everything she can to bring down hwaryun..
Yeah I thought this too. Hwaryun's life definitely isn't on the easy path. He's good for Rahan. Yes. But fuck Rahan. Fuck noble consort and the Prince. They can go political all they want but I want my boy Suu to be happy.
It's like at this point, his happiness is to live clean and free. Like that's so easy but bitches keep getting in the way.

i find them all reasonably selfish and arrogant from their respective backgrounds. keep im mind i forget most names except suu.
The crown prince is a prince, grown from riches, and always gets what he wants. his controlling and almost condescending tone towards suu and even the dragon is nearly justified by this. Maybe it went a little far, but at the same time its to he expected of people with authority.
The dragon is a creature that yes, grew with someone who showed him kindness, but also have everything he needed provided because of his immense, or soon to be, power. He has so much power, that having compassion for others or even something like what he has with suu is not necessary, and most of the time a hassle. He gets this arrogance and lack of common morals from just how powerful he is. The only reason suu has this power over the dragon (by power, i meant the ability to convince him to do things, ykwim) ‘is hecause suu has something he wants, which suu can only give by choice, not by force, which is (cheesy alert) love. like real love. if not im sure the dragon would be flinging my bou around.
suu is the one thats more understandable to the common person. He has lived through betrayal, through crimes against humanity, through traumatizing events, at a heartbreakingly young age. He was only able to power through and survive by being cunning, relying on himself, and in general looking out for himself. This has proved to him time and time again, from nadan to the crown prince, to even the dragon in these latest chapters.
I domt know why i decided to write a full thesis essay but i wanted to write it down here just in case anyone reciprocated these thoughts.
