Hal isn't serious about the date. He grew up with Lippie. She's his little sister's best friend, and the little sister of his best friend. He thinks she's cute and likes to squish her cheeks because it drives her oldest brother crazy. But they have more if a close friend relationship than anything. He teases her and she ignores his flirting, because she knows he just likes to flirt with women. Plus Hal himself says he likes older women, and that Lippie is soothing to him and one of the few people he feels comfortable around. He's not the type to ruin that.
