The king(.?) put a curse on him so he can't use his magic freely because he is to powerful
He did that to all of his hero's to bind them to the kingdom and himself to use them whenever he needs them. This disgusting piece of trash uses them like tools for his own gain.
And to think they where once friends with a person like him, I mean yes your friends are powerful but if the kingdom is ever in danger all he had to do was ask for there help but nooo he wanna control them so they'll have no choice but to help
The current emperor was an underdog prince who sent into wars because all of his sibling wanted him dead. He made friends with Rykell and the others but something happened and then we have this mess
and the emperors before him was pretty trash, too... considering that the convenant is a "tradition"
