She had years of suffering, only now did he do one good thing for her, doesn't justify nor repay all the suffering she went through.
He had his chance, several time, he just choose to ignore it because he was confortable like that.

You have every right to still not like him. I know that he now understands what he put her through but that doesn’t changed the fact that she still suffered and he just neglected her
