She’s not in it for money? This is a game she has to win to go back to her life in her world.
If you don’t remember, she specifically stated she didn’t want to return to that life. Then she was offered money. She is literally only in it for the money. The princesses are all doing this to get the reward, not because they care for the prince.
They empire is doing this to gain leverage on every other kingdom and remain on top, they are using the marriage and opening for bargaining and to curry favor and such, by keeping the FL out of the candidacy the ML is protecting her from being turned into a bargaining chip and being made into a material of sorts. The ML isn’t actually that bad, his father is the one putting him up to this and all of these woman just want to exploit his position and power. Even the FL was originally in it for the money, though she doesn’t really care all too much currently.
