It’s not. You should read the novel spoilers. There were so many misunderstandings and both MC and Crown Prince were tragic. The crown prince loved her and knew she wasn’t the “real” Veronica in the first TL. He was never able to tell her he loved her nor get to hear her real name because she was killed by the duke before he could save her.
He loved baby Ian too. The reason he was cold to her was because he couldnt display “favoritism” to her (as she was impersonating Veronica) due to the politics in the palace.
