I agree with you, they met on such unfortunate circumstances -- where she is only waiting to be executed sooner or later. It's nice that they have a chance to know each other from the beginning.

Reading while listening to Back from the dead (Skyla Grey) is an incredibly good fit.
I loved the Mikaelis from the futur though. If the FL hadn't been dead but hurt, I would have love to see the story from there, with flashback. But I think the return to the past make them have a sweeter memories.
