Misumi does not abuse Yashiro, they are currently friends...but in Yashiro's younger days they were fk buddies...misumi was trying to calm yashiro down from sleeping with so many yakuza. The day they made that agreement o be fk buddies Yashiro gave him a bj and misumi JOKED what a bad son.
They traded sake cups later and yashiro became misumi's son in the yakuza hierarchy but he actually reported to hirata fo r his 'work'
i recommend re-reading to erase the confusion.
Almost forgot...the scene from your comment was all out of context. First, Yashiro is a masochist, we all know. In his younger days--before Yashiro.... misumi was a ruthless, quick tempered bastard but you never knew what would set him off from calm to crazy. In this scene Yashiro flirted with him and then purposefully pushed his buttons to elicit a response. (In reality it was a diversion tactic he used to avoid telling musumi ' no' to rejoining the gang. Also, incidentally, misumi knew what Yashiro was doing and reacted anyway.) In the next scene they are laughing themselves silly. Yashiro says misumi still 'has it' and I guess misumi concedes yashiro still has his charms but that is all subtext.
I love the complexity of misumi's character, but then they are all written so well.
Hmmmmm..... Ok then i seem to really do not get Misumi's characters
Misumi's character, imho, exists to give the readers more insight into what makes Yashiro tick/how he thinks--he also reads doumeki and hirata like books.
He understands people from a deep psychological perspective like great leaders and politicians do. He asked just the right questions and really listened to 19 yo Yashiro's answers. I remember when asked why he fkd yakuza so much, Yashiro basically said he got a kick riling these straight macho men up and listen to them curse him while desperately thrusting their hips. Misumi understood right there that Yashiro was likely sexually abused as a kid and his mind was a bit twisted in his outlook on people.
At the opening of the story we learn misumi is no longer Yashiro's fk buddy bc yashiro only sleeps with people he doesn't respect and he is amused with how Yashiro manipulated Ryuzaki into sex knowing misumi was coming to the office. Yet, he instantly sees Doumeki is love struck with Yashiro and acts like a protective dad/jealous lover towards a rival.
We really get to see his ruthless side when he takes hirata out at the end of that arc. It was chilling, badass, sexy and so damn cathartic!

Now I get that Yashiro still is in an abusive father-son relationship till this day. Misumi is in the Yakuza-world Yashiro's father.
He even called him 'bad son' (somewhere in Volume 2, can't find it right now) and told Kageyama in the same volume, that he is some kind of 'surrogate father' for Y while having sex with him in this time.
That's just fucked up. I never got that in the English version.
