Why did the recovery guy lie? Is he the murdorer's partner?

The recovering file was processing but he told mc that it couldnt be recovered

No he was saving a video file

I understood it as he was processing the file to see whats salvageable and then it turned out nothing like he tried to process the file but it didn't show 100% so I feel like he didn't lie

Ok I had to double check but what he was doing was"saving" a video file not "recovering".
I thought he saved the video the mc took.
But maybe saving=recovering? Idk

But he told the mc that even “other shops” wouldn’t be able to recover it sounds rlly sus to me tbh
