I feel as though life would've been harder if she didnt go along with Johannes, her family didnt seem like they treated her well and could've just sold her to even worse ppl
yeah man women just have it rough in these stories. I feel for all protagonists of these historical stories cuz I wouldn't survive them at all . it turned out ok for shuli, but it could've been just as worse if johannes had bad intentions.
Ironically, Shuli too caught the attention of three men - Nora, the cardinal priest and the crown prince.

so basically all the men(Johannes, Nora's dad, the emperor) loved the empress. and besides the fact that Johannes made a 16 year old his wife and gave her the heavy and unfair responsibility of raising his kids, isn't it kinda icky that he chose a young girl who resembled the girl he loved??? Idk man poor Shuli she got the short end of the stick in life.
