i forgot the chapter, but it was on ep.8 of s3. where Matoba captures Natsume & explains that he made a promise to give his right eye to the youkai which helped him. .but he went back on his words. So the youkai comes every month to take his eyes.
Correction: Long ago, there was a man who promised to give his right eye to the youkai that helped him, but the guy went back on his words. So, from then on, from generation to generation, the youkai comes every month to take the right eye of the leader of Matoba clan. It is on vol. 8.
