Basically MC was worried that the person he liked and his favourite actor, “Blondie”, didn’t actually have any depth to his character. As in there is nothing behind his aloofness and apathetic behaviour.
So he asked the director if it’s possible for a good actor to be called good if they are not able to feel empathetic for the character’s feeling.

MC tried to make an analogy by explaining that perhaps acting as such a person was like a blank canvas (the dull inside) painted over with pretty colours (the acting).

The director reused that analogy to bring a different perspective which is that perhaps instead of it being blank, it a coloured canvas (there’s a personality) painted over by the person in broad white strokes (but there’s a mask). And I’d add to that that perhaps over the new blank layer there will be new colours (acting).

Hope this helped how they tried to discuss his situation and how he helped the MC see thing differently! Was a pretty deep and cool conversation tbh
