Agreed. The only other villain i can think of is the og fml, the emperor, or her brother. It’s difficult to find reincarnation stories where the mc isnt op (bc of past memories) and an equally op villain... but the romance is still cute and i still wanna see what happens lol

I don't know why but my understanding was that they were retainers (so actual nobility, vassals). Since she's saying something like "she's just a maid" she must have a higher status.
But I didn't feel like she was humiliated at all. I mean I saw her tears, I just don't get why she is humiliated. It's a very honorific position, that she's been given. Taking care of a duchess's jewelry and attending to her is the job of a lady.
I recommend Koushaku Reijo no Tashinami if you haven’t read it already! It focuses more on politics rather than sappy romance. Fml doesn’t rely on ml all the time either.
She is not a maid daughter, her mother is the Head Maid and a Countess, they are the vassal of the duchy. And there is a difference between Maid and Maid of Honor or Lady In waiting, Lady in Waiting are from Noble Lady, their task mostly choosing dress, serving Tea, planning the budget, Preparing the banquet, etc, you could said they like a secretary. And they do have power, for reference like Lady Diana Grandmother, she is a Baroness and The Queen Lady In Waiting.

Is an Aubrey character even needed? Like another female to show how superior to mc is? Like not even a villain on equal footing a maids daughter who has no power as it so everybody can jerk off to her being crushed.
