i’m not sure but I think yaoi has some adult scenes while in shounen ai it is mostly pure or limited adult scenes (this is based on the stories i’ve read with yaoi and shounen ai tags, i didn’t search it) (>_>)

Kind of----Shounen Ai sits under the BL tag, but with actual fluffy relationships with no smut----At least no smut scenes in the novel/Anime/Manhwa/Manhua/Manga.
Yaoi mainly starts off with man and man r/pe. Than it goes off into a relationship. I hope his helped tell the difference.
Yuck, it's terrible but "someone random" 's description isn't so far from reality. Many yaoi stories start with r/pe indeed, a lot justify it and/or underplay it too. But I wouldn't say that all, not even that most yaoi stories do.
