I think it's weird because of their difference in height but even in the 21st century people date with 10 years gap in age (sometimes more. My personal presences is that 10 years and above is too much.) so I think a 7 year age gap is fine personally. Plus we know hal is a good guys so even if he was gonna go down that fought I'm sure he would wait till she's an adult.

I thought it was a bit weird too. My cousins when they were about 3/4 would say that they had a girlfriend in their nursery and say that they played together. It was all very innocent but I think it's similar to that just more extreme because in the time it was set children would have been taught about marriage from young cause they get engaged young. During those times sometimes people would get engaged whilst still in the womb
