So true sudden stoppaged of vices can actually lead to death. There's this one story (A real life one, true to life.) Where his father is an alcoholic but because his son threatened to leave his father the father suddenly stopped drinking and in less than one month he died. The son found out that it was because of a bad alcohol withdrawal reaction that this father died. He regret it and blamed himself.
If one must stop with his addiction they need to seek professional help and not just stop all by themselves cause it might be life threatening.
rehab takes time. You don't just stop all of a sudden. You'll need to lower your intake by time because if you stop immediately you'll be having the urge of having more.
