I think it's necessary , because Yan HeQing is Emperor now, and Xiao Yu'an is ex-emperor of North Kingdom. The problems aren't accomplish yet. Although, you spoiled it like that. I think the plot will be like that , it's logic.
The problem is they will keep adding extra drama like unnecessary this could actually lead to an end like with some explanation and their time together we didn't need the dying over and over again
