My ideal scenario would be that the Uke and the boss break up, because the uke realizes later down the line that he needs to be happy alone. Then after some time after he finally recovers from the whole thing and is genuinely happy, he allows himself to love again (could be the boss or someone new) and has a healthy and loving relationship
Not that I hate the fuck buddy or the ex, but for me it would be a super ending if the uke ended up by himself, living somewhere happily nd free. Not every story like this one needs to end in a way where the mc gets together with the replacement guy or some shit. Sometimes you gotta show happiness that didn't come from some other guy but from the mc himself.
