I think you took this too literally... they’re not romanticizing the situation it has a more symbolic meaning (depending on the various ways the reader could interpret), i see it as the victim unable to escape from his rapist, mentally. Many stories of victims where this one incident haunts their whole life yk
Its a demon FFS, it doesnt care about feelings, it doesnt care if it hurts you, it doesnt care if it rapes you and tears you apart, it doesnt care if it eats you - physically and spiritually. What is there to romanticise???
Its interesting. And no, the transfer student is likely not a masochist. The demon likely put him under some sort of hypnotic spell so he comes back everyday to be raped (although the demon calls it "love", its rape, by a demon. )
So that boy will eventually wither away to nothing - he will be a husk, unless he finds SOME way of escaping his fate with the demon.
