Might be a spoiler
What I've heard is that Cecilia's family is a neutral noble family. That's why CP was choosing Cecilia as the empress. Both of them aren't in love, it's a political agreement benefiting to both. But yes, as you saw, Cecilia became fond of the artist and doesn't really appreciate the pressure of being a crown princess and maybe becoming an empress. That's why the only one trying hard not to lose Cecilia here is the CP because he needs a noble girl who opposes the 4th ducal family (so in other word, count families and all) which Cecilia was a great party for. But since he fell in love with Lucia (without knowing she is Elena/Veronica) who appears to be a neutral count's daughter, he let Cecilia go away.
I've read the novel at this point but it's been a while, that's why I'm saying it "might be" a spoiler and not it "is".
Did the prince really love the empress Cecilia in past life and this one?? But did Cecilia actually like the painter guy?
