Gonna rant here so please don’t get offended: He’s a Vampire HUNTER. It’s in his job description to kill vampires. He was actually doing his job when he killed all those vampires. He got an order from his boss and he carried it out. Not to mention in his line of work it’s kill or be killed. Also we don’t know enough of Tristan’s backstory. Maybe his parents were hunters or they were killed by vampires or maybe Tristan was taken in by his current boss at an adoption center as a child or some equally cliché backstory?
I hear you...but...what does any of that take from the fact that he is racist against vampires, exactly?
Yet another rant here: Racism: the belief that different races possess distinct characteristics, abilities, or qualities, especially so as to distinguish them as inferior or superior to one another.
Other definition: prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized
Last I checked Tristan doesn’t do this in the series. He just kills them when he’s told to. Not to mention all of the vampires that were assassinated so far have commit major crimes like embezzlement and murder. If the vampires did nothing wrong just like what happened to Ethan’s father then it would be considered racism.
Something along the lines of: “vampires are animals because they drink blood so they must be killed!” Is closer to racism but that isn’t said once by Tristan either directly or indirectly.
And score you bring up the chapter where he takes his anger out on the vampires in that bar, those vampires were attacking an informant and Tristan was already frustrated from Ethan sexually harassing him all day at work. Is that racism or was he yet again doing his job and using a destructive outlet for his stress?
If you still think it’s racism then please don’t reply I don’t feel like arguing.
1. If you don't feel like arguing with people don't reply to them idk
2. You have to apply to get jobs. So unless killing vampires isn't their only mission, he did apply or accept a job to kill races. As far as I know, killing a specific race is racism. But eh, what do I know.
3. I yet have to see what Tristan's dad did to deserve to die, since according to you, all vampires killed did something wrong.
4. I never talked about the chapter you mentioned anyway.
And this isn't an argument. Sorry to break it to you but killling a specific race for existing IS discrimination over race aka racism. And I'd even say in this case it's genocide since they're looking to eradicate vampires.
The fact that it has to be explained in 2021 when so many populations have been treated the same way is both ridiculous and tragic.
