I was theorizing that maybe the MC has a mental health problem kinda like DID/MPD (Dissociative Identity Disorder/Multiple Personality Disorder) and the roles he acted are his different personalities that have their own stories and experiences, and the story covers it up as if it was magic and he just gets transported to the world he acts in...
But I don't know since I'm not really a professional and I just came up with this instantly from the little information I already have about DID/MPD in my tiny ass brain... please don't attack me since I'm stupid and I'm just here to share theory me and my small brain came up
