there's /definitely/ something off. as someone who's been calling themselves a dom and sadist for quite a while now and leads a BDSM relationship w someone rn, i would like to whack the seme. he's everything i don't like and does everything you shouldn't do when introducing someone to BDSM, but now i started the story and i w a n n a s e e h o w i t e n d s.
(it's also very common with these stories to be a little... meh, dub con or non con are normal on this site so complaing won't do much

totally! BDSM is a very sensitive topic and doesn't just require a little trust, but a huge amount. the sub usually gives away all control to the dom, so you have to be sure that the dom actually knows what they're doing and can handle the responsibility. in this story, the sub is also very unwilling, and the dom just leaves him to make his problems out with himself... if someone is unsure and feels ashamed of the fact they enjoy being degraded or hurt, it shouldn't be ignored, especially not by their dom. sometimes, stories like these can make one feel uncomfortable — and if it makes you feel uncomfortable, that's probably a good thing. i'm concerned for all the people thinking the relationship portrayed here is normal and okay. but then again— the only good presentation of BDSM i've ever seen in a /famous/ yaoi was BJ Alex, the side story the author added in.

in conclusion: you're totally right. trust is fundamental, safe words are /always/ necessary and /always/ to be respected. and if the story makes you feel too uncomfortable, don't be afraid to drop it! there's no shame in that, and there are several lists on here that contain manga and manwha with very good representation of BDSM.
