I honestly still don’t know what Sei is up to bc he seems to genuinely rlly rlly like Chika. I feel like he’s on the manipulative side of things and wanted to keep Chika all to himself.
Either way, I feel so bad for Momoyan :((( he finally just started opening up to everyone and then this shit happens my poor bby </3
also, it’s so so cute that both Tetsuki’s parents wanted to take Chika in when they found out he ran away from home

I feel like Sei is obsessed with Chika in a yandere way. Like he probably identified with Chika because of their similar circumstances (abandoned by their fathers) but Chika found a home with his Grandpa, so Sei lost it, got jealous and like a typical 14 yr old with lots of power/money but no one to control him, he went crazy and channelled his jealousy into driving a wedge between Chika and his grandpa by destroying his shop.

Unfortunately, the Grandpa passed out of shock and Chika broke up with him, so he went crazy again. Now that Chika has new friends, his jealousy is back and he wants Chika for himself by isolating him.

Basically, he is doing the same thing Kurusun once tried to do, but in a much more violent way.

    Thats my theory at least.

Nah bc this actually makes sooooo much sense and I totally buy ur theory!! I was thinking of something along the same lines too.

It makes me wonder if he’s gonna get a redemption arc since half of these characters have lmao. Which makes me kinda iffy tho bc if this is all true, then Sei’s actions have literally led up to the grandpa’s death which isn’t rlly redeemable if u ask me :(

Actually, I don't really mind a redemption arc for Sei since he was like 14 hen he did all that shit... And 14 yr olds are not really known for thinking of the consequences when doing something.

The only person who "redemption" arc I actually HATED was Akira's grandmother. I mean, unlike all the others, this lady was like a full grown adult who manipulated an emotional vulnerable widow and turned her against her own child, a 6-7 yr old CHILD because she wanted Hotsuki's family business for herself.

And of course, she kept at it for OVER 10 YEARS, all the way until Hotsuki was KICKED OUT OF HER OWN HOUSE and she still wanted to destroy even her passion for playing koto, to the point she actually had Akira become a teacher/coach at Hotsuki's school to harass other members of the club so they would abandon Hotsuki and she would never get to play even in a fucking school club, let alone professionally, ever again.

And after all the shit she, a grown ass woman who definitely knew better, pulled we are supposed to forgive her over the course of one song because she "cried"?? Fuck that.

Ughhh you are so right!!!! I still don’t like the grandma either lmao like she was so outta pocket for too many things. And the fact that she STILL wanna act bitchy around Houtsuki when Akira has already put her in her place. Like ma’am u r gonna die in abt five years pls pipe down.

But yea, you make a great point that Sei was just a kid (and they all still are). I just can’t imagine how the redemption arc will go if it happens bc I imagine it’ll take a lot for Chika & Co. to forgive him bc of all the actual trauma he’s caused. At the same time, a part of me feels like it wasn’t Sei that was the mastermind either...

Personally, I think all Sei did was tell a bunch of thugs to trash an old man's music shop, and maybe push him around a bit.

The grandpa, unfortunately, had a weak heart, so watching his life's work get destroyed was too much for him. And the others (neighbours, who already hated Chika for whatever reason) started blaming Chika for killing his grandfather.

I would be fine if even Chika doesn't forgive him. I mean, Sei's actions directly or indirectly, did effect him a lot.
But I do hope they can just put that part of the past behind them, both Chika and Sei, and move on with their lives... either as friends or seperately. Esp, since the grandpa seems to be fine now (◠‿◕)
