i thought this too! i can’t figure out the knife part but the part about him sending max to rescue her might be true.
for me the knife was given to her for her to use it when she feels she is in danger but then she thought that it was given for her to commit suicide.
I think her father in the past was saying to “endure it” until the crown prince aka Max the disciple, could come and rescue her but she misunderstood everything and killed herself. The Duke has a resting bitch face so his feeling and thoughts don’t translate to Juvel while she is stupidly oblivious XD
