Another potential spoiler to go with what I mentioned previously...
Some Asura are malicious in nature and even synonymous to demons in the inferior realms of the Asura. The more you know.
A quick search showed me that "While all the gods of the Kāmadhātu are subject to passions to some degree, the asuras above all are addicted to them, especially wrath, pride, envy, insincerity, falseness, boasting, and bellicosity" which would, essentially, hint that what he is praying to is likely deceptive and opposite to the face he's trying to show in front of them. I mean, we all knew he was sus anyway though.
