I just started reading this and I feel like the father has no right to be interested now how dare you do that to your own blood that is horrible he never paid attention to her all her life how dare you I'm so disgusted with him I couldn't even feel sorry for him at all

Now that i finish reading what was there I can say now something's holding back from showing his real emotions and I don't know why but it was still kind of cruel for him to believe someone over his own daughter even if he was hiding his emotions I still feel that he has no right to get involved with her

I agree I would never forgive him like he has no valid excuse to especially treat a young little girl like that especially since she had lost her mother. He can go to hell.

It seems like it wasnt all on him, Keira has been shown to get lost in her head, it almost looks like shes really like her father. So two people bad at communicating and with a tendency to think their veiws are truth, will definitely have issues. Especially when he flashes back to her as a kid, and him loving her is clear to him, but her pov was cold and dark and him not caring.

I bet the past were she was killed he was so sure of her, that he didnt think anything would come of letting cossette in, and then it spiraled out of control. And the daughter who always came to him, avoiding jim, could very well have caused doubts to form in his mind.

Keep in mind, we barely get his pov, and almost never from the other timeline. I also find it suspicious how active cossete was in Keiras execution, and how inactive the duke was. And the fact that it was rushed through despite many figures defended her, many of whom the duke would have paused at hearing their testimonies.

I have a feeling that we are gonna get some backstory from him about that time.

I agree, I can’t bring myself to feel any sympathy or consideration for his POV after he had her executed. That was way too excessive of a punishment for someone who wasn’t even at fault. Even if she wasn’t his real daughter, you would think that he’d have even a little bit of consideration for the child that he brought up as his own. In the very least, he could’ve had her banished (which is still messed up, but better than execution), but to have her executed and just watch with no emotion, is cruel. All that matters to him is whether they can see spirits or not, not if they are actually family.
