I think the reason he is so desperate to marry her is because he can /actually/ see the future. Like maybe Dionysus showed him that he could be safe and have a future if he got close to Chitra. So maybe he is using the chance the dukes and Muriel, who are trying to control Chitra, gave him to complete his own personal goals
