Historically In the Medieval Times, with parental permission it was legal for boys to marry at 14 and girls at 12. A betrothal often took place when the prospective bride and groom were as young as 7 years old and in the case of higher nobility many were betrothed as babies. But a marriage was only legal once the marriage had been consummated. It not right but they made the story realistic in this aspect for the era its in

I get the historical bit. But it is also a fantasy story not a documentary. We had 11 year old being raped by old men after marriage in the medieval times. 80-90 year old men. But we are not seeing that in these medieval stories, are we? The authors conveniently create stories of handsome male nobles between 20-33 year old's. They don't dare go older even if historically it was common to be married off to much much older men.
So my question is, why are they not doing the same for the girls? Going back in time is already a fantasy. You can't tell me they decide to be rigid on this one thing. They can change up and twist any part of medieval times that they prefer. I just wonder why the rigidity comes in when it is about girls age.
I have read several stories of 12-13 year old girls in romance stories with 25-30 year old men. Hell not. History is one thing, but a whole romance story between them is wrong.
Just as Isekai is a whole unrealistic genre, the age can also be changed up. Nothing wrong with coming up with a story line that features these girls older. Or at least make the men/boys just as young as the girls.
I wish my shoujo manga female authors will stop marrying off children. 18 is still a child man. The world is trying to move and protect teenage girls from preying older men but shoujo mangakas are romanticizing it like crazy. 24-27 would have still be a perfect age for Lucia. There is no reason for her to be 18. None at all.
