it doesn't effect you though. Mind your business who are you to tell people what they should and shouldn't read. People are gonna be turned on to whatever there gonna be turned on to and thats okay. Yaoi is hot and that obvious these are drawings as long as mf's are respectful to irl lgbt ppl then its a-okay. Yaoi was invented by women for women you know. Your basically telling us not to use what we invented.

hi. it seems that you have mistaken what yaoi and bl is. bl is not just about romance, bl is about a story of an mlm relationship, regardless if there is sex or not. the term yaoi literally means ‘no plot, no climax, no meaning’, basically porn. but people always mix yaoi up with bl and think they’re the same thing. there are also people who think that bl is just all about romance, which is not the case.
enforcing just the romance side of bl is not healthy either, it makes mlm sex taboo (which it already is). it also feels very bootlicking; satisfying homophobic people who feel disgusted seeing make-out and sex scenes of two men even though it’s a normal thing to do. i live in Southeast Asia and there are a ton of conservative people here. even seeing a man kiss another man on the cheek, hand, or lips (i think it’s called a peck idk) will send them into a meltdown lol. i do agree that mlm sex should not be glorified but it should be normalized.
i also think that wlw relationships are very fetishized. bisexual women are desired by men just for being bisexual and that’s wrong. however, watching homosexual porn because it turns you on is fine as long as you don’t treat same-gender relationships all about sex, as long as you don’t glorify and (especially) harass same-gender couples (ex. asking who’s the top or the bottom without even confirming if they’re comfortable talking about sex-related topics). irl ships are also major problem but that’s a topic for another day. there are a ton of wrong things people do but if a person has the capability of not glorifying a heterosexual relationship, they can also do that on same-gender relationships.
what we need to do is educate people about these types of topics, not police them on what they can and can’t read/watch because most of the time, that does not work. of course, there’s always going to be people who will fetishize same-gender sexual intercourse and relationship regardless of whatever you say to them but we shouldn’t censor it to everyone just because of them.
i will not deny that there are a lot of women who fetishize mlm relationships and frustratingly glamorize r*pe culture in BLs (this is an entirely different topic but it’s just as frustrating) but there are also a lot of women who read BL that are allies or even part of the LGBTQ+. when we have discussions like what we’re doing, we can educate those who are misguided because they’re new to these kinds of topics and misguided people bc of BL materials that are misleading and harmful.
anyways, that’s it. im so sorry it’s long, im not good at conveying my opinions (esp since English is not my first language). hope you are having a nice day and my reply didn’t ruin it lol.

No no, I totally 100% agree with what you’re saying lol. I think you mistook what I was saying maybe ?? I know yaoi is just sex, that’s why I was saying it wasn’t right to glorify it etc. and BL stands for “boys love” so I don’t think it makes sense to say it’s not all romance..? Since that’s kinda the point? But I know what you mean, BL should portray the realistic sides of irl mlm relationships so it doesn’t get fetishized or glorified
I got a question for my fellow BL readers. Are you out and proud about reading yaoi would you tell others that you read Yaoi/BL/shounen ai?(cause me personally idgaf imma tell anybody if they ask what I like to read nor will I hide it either)
