He may be traumatized and mentally fvcked up from what happened to him thou. Any normal person would but he clearly isn't normal. Maybe he even finds it difficult to disobey her because of what happened. Like he's been brainwashed by her. He might end up needing someone to save him from her even or a push to stop letting her control him.
Forgot to add: but before this chap I would have agreed with you. If and that's just if he was raped (maybe we are wrong idk) that changes so much. It brings in so many other factors. Mostly psychologically.
