I may be misreading your statement or missed your point but, he didn't come there expecting to get inside without identification his whole purpose was to start unnecessary shit, it's like working at a gas station and you always make the gangsters pay for their shit (and have police on watch nearly every night, which they don't like so they come with out money during the day don't pay for their stuff and once the employee tells them to pay as he usually does he gets beat up.

What I was trying to say was that he must have thought our fl was weak and stupid so tried to get in without identification. I am pretty sure that's why he didn't just attack them right away.
He seemed scared when he heard that our fl was coming, but after he saw her he just mocked her. So what I am trying to say is that he would have attacked right away if our fl didn't come. He must have decided to make her let them go inside and then raid them.
But things didn't go his way so he decided to just attack right then and there.
