I'm in a business major. But this is another level or I just didn't listen to my professor...

I think it just the different section of a major.
Take medical as example.
Those who studies for the goal to be just a doctor that focus on patients have different studies with those whose focus is more on the research.
And as this one is a lab lead by a professor that take jobs from companies/businesses, the members are definitely a selected fews people who are much better than their peers.
Well, I can't really guarantee what I just said as it is just my take on what I've read so far from many different mangas in similar environments.
