Okay well the lore of it is kinda like a really really really long time ago Molandi saved a man named Leray who was on the brink of death and turned him into a vampire. The only reason why tho was so that Leary could kill everyone who wronged him and also some guy who betrayed Molandi in order to become a king. But after all was said and done Leray came to resent Molandi for giving him an existence of only revenge and anger so he decided that he was gonna kill Morandi. Molandi tried to finish Leray off but he survived and vowed to kill Molandi one day.
Flash forward a bit to Sea’s past. Basically his father was a man who studied vampires in order to find a way to gain their immortality and whose research was kinda fucked up. He killed himself and left to Sea two pills that supposedly could turn people immortal. Sea used one of these pills on River in the past to save his life (you gotta look back on the chapters cause their past kinda long)
Anyway Sea definitely has some connection to Leray and I’m guessing he found out about him while completing his fathers research and he’s basically hell bent on killing Leray. So he decided to get close to Molandi who was Leray’s target by apprenticing as a steward but like everyone was hella sus of him. (This is like a whole other thing) And since he knows that Molandi loves river a whole lot, if he kidnaps river, Molandi will follow and if Molandi comes so will Leray.

Mmmm I don’t really remember but I think it was kind of the same case as Leray. They were lovers but she felt like she was being used and got sick of Molandi. I know she was meant as a sacrifice or something for him, but I think he never really loved her the way she wanted. Not sure how accurate that is since it’s been a while since I read those chapters so you might have to revisit them
