Pretty sure he's just worried for melissa because she's dismissing her own safety
His behavior is totally understandable, if a person you love (mother, sibling, best friend, partner) is putting themselves in a situation they might die, its only natural you will worry. Especially since nine doesnt have anyone other than Melissa, Nine’s behavior is understandable but he looks at Melissa like a fragile figurine which she isnt, He isnt annoying or anything. You can say that because of the reassurance that Melissa will not die. But Nine doesnt know that
