I think it’s a lot simpler than that. Roselia introduced herself and told Shin right away that she couldn’t become his wife, basically rejecting him (she thought the ball was for him to find a wife). All of this happened before shin could really reply and introduce himself properly, she did all the talking.
OHHHHH i thought it was the other way around, where shin rejected the little girl. But ig its the other way around lol. It just seemed like a deep scene because it had that detail and special part of shin when he smiled.
