BIG QUESTION

Is it considered a BURY YOUR GAY TROPE?

I have to ask myself, did Ash really need to die at the end?
And Eiji is at the end still very heartbroken sad....

His death reminds me very much of Gai Yuki from the 1991 Super Sentai Series
Choujin Sentai Jetman.

In the final episode he was going to the wedding of his comrades but he was mortally stabbed by some random thief/criminal on his way. And instead of calling the ambulance or going to the hospital he went to the wedding to have a chit chat with the red ranger leader without revealing his bleeding wounds.
So he died because he didn't want to miss or ruin the wedding of his friends...

Pretty stupid, if you ask me...
And Ash could have easily also survived.

I know that a real life lebanese-german former box champion named Rola El-Halabi who was shot by her step-father/ex manager four times!!!! and she survived/recovered.

he could've, and was supposed to, but the author wasn't allowed to write gay characters with happy ending at the time, so thats why :/

Even the 2018 adaptation wasn't even bold enough to change the ending by replacing it with a more happy one ( ̄へ ̄)

Ikr, really wish they did, but at the same time, glad they didn't cause it really made it so much more impactful
