Actually yes, in the novel the ML was sexually abused by an older woman of the palace when young, like literally like ten or something if I remember, so that is why he hates womans that have too much make up and the smell of roses that MC usually wears a lot causes him nauseas cause is the same as that woman (he doesn't remember very well the event with the MC and the rose or something when they were children and decided to marry each other). She doesn't know this so that's why the ML hates her and is displeased with the change of the MC, cause when they were young she was more simple and natural (well kinda sexist but the MC is really annoying and obnoxious after remembering the past life and the dream of the future)
I’ll bet that he probably has some past trauma and the author will blame his shitty personality and disgusting actions on his trauma, they always do this to make us forgive him bc he’s just an innocent broken boy
