yes, she was basically acting nice obedient friendly and her looks on top helps her with her character. They like her b/c she’s friendly and doesn’t over power or question their rights and authority, she’s basically moved around in their palms as they please.
Wait... When the mother said "Act like a fool, pretend you don't know anything." Does that mean she was just acting to be like those 'typical' main character girl in a novel? I really want to see her side of story.
