are you possibly thinking of minato, the auctioneer, who Tristan did kill in the earlier chapters? I don't recall Tristan promising Ethan anything other than that he'll make it up to him for cancelling plans to meet with him (Tristan is instead prioritising his mission to kill Charles).

oh if you were talking about minato, they're different person than charles.. minato had beheaded. and as for the promise, i mean tristan promised ethan to not meet charles, basically means he won't sleep with charles. that's why tristan didn't meet charles on the set time, but come late to kill him. but he come with ethan smell on him...
