Nah he did it because of the empror.
he did it to fool the emperor into thinking he hates his daughter so that the emperor can't use his daughter as a blackmail against him
He also did it cuz the emperor can control the duke like ig mind control
maybe the father was cold to his daughter previously (and in previous life) is because he didnt want her daughter stalking and acting like a fool towards mikhail and he just couldn't express it since he didn't want his daughter to be hurt?
i dont know why the father had ignore the daughter in previous life but not now.. and the only thing that change is that MC break up with mikhail and she began acting a little more mature.
