eh.. ok thats one opinion.
But to purposfully act dumb and use the exuse "we are friends" to justfiy your actions against somone who has stated for months now that they dont see you as a friend and want you to not be rude to them.. that being malicious!
On top of that to act dumb when said persons Fiance is Openly Flirting with you, thats being beyond Malicious. At that point Helena is literaly purposfully making Eris hate her! And yet Helena acts like a victim after having set it all up...
She may have been Bullied by Eris In The Past, but isnt Helena the one doing the bullying now? At least Eris didint act like the "victime" after having bullied Helena, but thats what Helena has been doing now and she is getting away with it to! You say Helena dosnt have "power", but it is her power of being favored by the Prince that lets her get away with not duing formal language when speaking to nobels! A commoner not using formal language to speak to a nobel would normaly be inprisoned or even given the death sentence and yet Helena can walse around teh Palace and insult every nobel with no consiquences! This is a platent Use of Power! Somthing you say she dont have!
The second place that prowes Helena has power is the fact that she is free to go anywhere she wants! Something Eris and other nobels cant!
Helena feels like going to town -> she goes to town. Helena wants to go to the Temple -> she goes to the temple. Where as Eris has to inform is she is going to town and give a notice if she is going to the temple (same for other nobels).
Helena is lucky... a commoner not bound by the rules that supress commoners, and yet she also have the "Rank" of a nobel, yet none of the downsides like nobel duties. On top of that she has two royals supporting her, a Hero suporting her and the Head Priest of the Temple Suporting her. She literaly has the Freedome Of A Royal, withougt the duties. That Alone is Power. On top of that she is great at acting Innocent and dumb with her pretty face, making all men come running to the "Damsel in distresses" Rescue... That is also to have Power!
The fact that Helena knows she has a choice to speak up or hold her tongue is also to have power, because she has the Choice to speak, where as a commoner does not!
The Exuse that Helena has no power dosnt work when we are constantly seeing her get away with actions others would have been inprisoned for!

Preach !!!!
We do understand the circumstances that’s lead Helena to act the way she does, but she did go too far with pretending to be friendly with MC.
Like the slapping incident....it would have been so easy for Helena to correct that misunderstanding but she didn’t. She wanted to see something happen to our MC and we now know that due to our badly translated chapter 24

I don't know if you can call it power when it is not really yours. The moment she ticked off the prince or those above her and loose their favorite, she's pretty much less than a dog. Elise could have had Helena killed, and no one would bash and eye about it.
As you said, she could get into trouble just for not speaking formally. Some time commoners could be killed just for being commoners.
Like it or hate it, the prince was her master. If she speak formally, do you really believe the prince will let it go? He would be angry and take it out on Elise again. What would happen then? Elise would hate her even more and release her anger at Elena.
Until recently when the soul has changed, no matter what Helena did or didn't do, Elise would hate her. Again, the prince is the problem, yet Elise only take it out of Elena because she can, the same as the prince take it out on Elise because he can't go against the king.
Acting dump is her way of survival.
Even if she were to stop playing dump, as long as the prince loved her, she would never have peace. Elise had hated her just by existing. Since the first time they met when she didn't do anything, she was already hated and being so since.
As long as Elise loved the Prince, and the Prince loved Helena, Helena would always be the target.
Helena would have been long dead if she did not have the protections of the masters above her.

Yes its not her own power she is using, its the princes but its still using power! Dosnt matter where she get the power from, she still has access and uses power regularly! SO dont go using the exuse "shes powerless". Isnt she using her beauty as a weapon? That counts as a power and its her own power to! SHe is using her beauty, her innocent and dumb act to get what she wants... This is Power!
You said it your self, commoners have been killed just for being commoners! And yet she is given a free pass everytime she uses informal speach, with or without the prince around! That also profe that she was power! Eris isnt alowed to adress Helena by her full name, yet Helena can adress Eris however she feels... That is Power. Freedome is also power, the fact that Helenas movement isnt restricted by her rank as commoner is profe of "having friends in high places" = Using Your Friends Power as If It Was Your Own... This is also a form of POWER!
The Reason Eris has to be together with the prince and Helena is because Helena insistes that The Prince Invites Eris... every freaking time and Eris dosnt have the power to say NO. Helena is forcing Eris to sit and smile at her while seeing her Fiance Flirting with Helena...
Where as Eris Donst Have the power to force Helena to go anywhere!
See a difrence? One word from Helena and Eris has to come to a Tea Part with "Friends". Yet Eris cant order Helena to leave her alone... That a difrence in Power AKA HELENA Has More Power Than Eris!
Helena Also has the power of "Being LIKED", only royals can go get treated at the royal doctor and yet a papercut or a scrape and Helena can come and go to the royal docter as she pleaces.. and the reason being... like she RUBBED In Eris face "Because the ROyal Doctor LIKES ME!"
Helena is Blody More Privileged Than Nobel

God I just realized I had the names switched in my last reply lmao. I’m bad with names but
Helena=the novel’s FL
And
Elise= our MC and the novel’s Villainess correct?
It’s power by association. And that’s how the powers of young nobles work as well. If a young noble was disowned/hated by his family, he wouldn’t have much power. It’s the association to the Noble’s name that gives a noble power.
The point is Helena WON’T be killed for her rudeness because of the power she has due to her association with the Prince. Red Hair dude, the priest AND the Empress. Her power does not lie in 1 person.
Plus, If Helena did stand strong about abiding by the rules of nobles and told the Crown Prince some excuse about “wanting to be worthy of him”; the crown prince would have listened Bc it implies she likes him romantically.
You’re right about this tho, this method was a way for Helena to survive. Helena chose the easy route and it’s hard to be mad about that. I actually upvoted ur comment Bc I agreed with that
However this still doesn’t justify Helena’s actions to current Elise right now. Current Elise is trying to separate herself from Elise but Helena keeps approaching her.... why?
If Helena is “the victim no matter what” like you say, Helena should have no problem letting Elise go. In fact if she should be happy to let Elise go since she wouldn’t be in her way any more
Instead our MC has been smacked, humiliated, and completely disrespected despite her very clear stance on not loving the prince and wanting nothing to do with Elise

Like I swear I completely see your point but Helena has been trying to put MC in check for the past however many chapters even though MC is not trying be involved.
The current situation is MC holding a white flag to surrender and Helena is still attacking.
We were mad Bc we thought Helena was acting due to ignorance but since she’s pretending, that means she’s provoking MC on purpose.

Also Helenas constent seeking out of the hero has cause a rift in the Hero and princess relationship.
Despite Helena knowing the prince is in love with her, she secretly meets the Hero in a romantic place and lets hem flirt with her (Hero knew the prince was watching). The Hero then swor loyalty to Helena = You are the one i give my blade and soul to (same as proposing).
In Other words Helenas Seeking the Men has causes a rivlery to sprout.. a rivlery that can easerly cause disaster! And now we know those actions werent her being ignorant... but her Acting ignorant = She is doing it on purpose! She knows they all have the hots for her and she is using this...

I know what you mean. Human life is often gray than black and white.
Helena started to change her way as well such as apologized and acknowledged her fault that she would have not done before the soul have changed because the main MC behavior have changed. It feels like a responds to the other's actions. Now that the Elise no longer have malicious feelings toward Helena, Helena, too, has been more honest with Elise. I hope there will be more character growth between them.

I hate to say it, but i dont think this is the first time Helena as sought out Eris to "apoigize" after a "misunderstandg" where she didnt speak up but stayed silent... If you look back Mc was thinking "whats the point of apoligizing in secret other than to win my favor".
I think Helena has sought out Eris before.. just look at the Slap incident.... it happend because Helena sought out Eris and rushed to her! Eris even said "i have told you not to sprint at me like this many times, because you may fall!".. And Helena still ran at Mc.

That's my point. She used her beauty because she had to. If she didn't have her beauty, the sympathy from others, or affections she had earned, how would she protect herself?
Without those, she was nothing. She would have died.
The Prince love her just for being herself, even before all those acting.
Elise hated her and torture her in anyway possible.
If Helena not relying on her beauty and friend's power, what do you think would happen to her?
Dead, probably.
That's why she acted the way she acted because she wanted to survived. That's the only thing she can do.
I'm saying that Helena's action was right, but if I were her, who would be hated no matter what, and would be at the end of Elise anger for years, believed me, I would not stopped just at what Elena did. The fact that she decided to forgive Elise no matter what she would do to her because she saw how she really felt, I don't think I would be able to do that. Sure, she's suffer in her own way, but that doesn't change the fact that she had make my life a living hell and leaving me with trauma.
As what you said that Elise didn't have the same freedom, I would say differ. She could have gone anywhere and did anything she like with her power. The reason she didn't because she limited herself for not wanting to break people's exception and disapproval.
Helena had the freedom because other than the few she earned the favor from, she didn't give a crap about those who didn't disprove of her.
As for her being liked by people, why is it a crime? People liked her for how she acted, why is it her fault that people disliked others for their own action?
The cord of the problem is the Prince love.
The prince was overly protective of Elena and fixed Elise as evil because of the history records Elise had done.
Elise committed Elena was the problem and would eliminated her. Doesn't matter if Helena was good or bad, she would still being hated and torment.
Helena, in ordered to survived, she had to used everything she could to replace the power that she doesn't have, which is befriended those powerful.
It is going a circle.
Guess I'm the only on feeling different about Helena?
No matter you hate or love her, it doesn't change the fact that she had been bullied her whole life.
She has no power to be herself. And those who did not see her effort would not see it, no matter how hard she tried.
Whether she did or didn't do something, if the higher ups were unhappy, someone would end up paying the price because of her. Even if she didn't wish for anyone to get hurt, and tried her best to not cause trouble, the prince who was overly protective of her would end up making more enemies for her.
To be honest, if anything were to blame, it would be the circumstance that everyone was in.
-The prince hates Elise, but he can't go against the king. (spinless much.) No one would like to see the person they love bullied, adding the hopelessness of the situation, he took his anger out of her.
_Helena, she is not the problem, the prince was. Because he loved her, just by Helena existing would cause someone trouble. Elise would hate her for as long as the prince's feelings did not change.
Weather Helena did or didn't do something, she ended up with more enemies.
She is powerless. She had no voice even when she was wronged.
The people above her, who liked her, would do everything they think was good for her even if she want them to, and making more enemy for her.
If she insisted on being stubborn and doing her duty, the other maids would end up in trouble. If she didn't do her duty, the other maids would end up hating her because they had to take over. She was just struggling to survive. By the end of the day, she is only human who doing what they think is best for them.
-Elise, same as most women, it is always the other woman's fault, and not the man. The prince loved Helena, even if she were still as a statute, it would not change. And as long as the prince loved Helena, Elise would always hate her.
True to human nature, because she could not do anything to the prince, she bullied the one without power. Because she loved him, she never hated him and aim all hatred toward Helena. Fact remained, Helena had suffered her whole life because of Elise.
Personally, if someone bullied me no matter what, I think I would end up more evil than Helena toward Elise.
