Honestly it has a REALLY strong flavor if you use too much of it and it isn't a nice flavor either...
It makes your tongue numb too. So like how did she not notice xD Also if you add a spice to food after it's been cooked, it's very noticeable.

I don't know a ton about spices... But if theres a giant about of nutmeg literally poured over a steak, wouldn't people notice that the smell and taste is off??? From what I recall, nutmeg smells a lot even in small amounts...
