Agreed. Story felt a little rushed but I think we could inference that Dev’s eyes are blue bc of his dad (who I assume is a Pel aka a white bread) and Rowell probably looked lifeless bc his parents had died and he had no meaning in life until Dev came along... Their love was kinda quick and random ngl. The story with the other duke also pisses me off. He went from antagonistic, abusive-seeming mf to someone who was just in love with his own Spinel??? Like sorry, I don’t buy it. Everyone getting their own “Spinel” (but oh wait, they’re free now!!) was honestly ridiculous to me.

I mean yeah we could kinda figure out that Devs dad was a Pel, but I wanted to see more of his side and maybe get to know him more, maybe his dad was a noble. And I honestly just wanted to see whats running in Rowells mind pre-Dev, even though we know he was traumatized as heck. Overall I just wanted more backstory and character building.

This was rushed as hell even though the first few chapters showed that it could have expanded and developed the characters more. Like why are his eyes blue, where is his family, why was Rowell losing sleep and looking lifeless. Why was the other duke calling Rowell darling?? This could have been longer and more interesting rather than what it is. But the art is stunning
