I don't think that's true. I believe he had some sort of feelings for her back then to, because he saw that she was just as hated by her family as he was his. That's why you can clearly see he was shocked when the Duke gave his conditions. yeh that was my thought process as well, rather than love it was more so feeling of sympathy? or familiarity of someone who shares the somewhat same environment as his self. he probably felt a sort of comradeship in being hated by their families? i cant really explain it but yeh.
I agree, thats what ch 21 looked like. He didn't seem in love with her, at least not at that point. He also seemed the opposite, he seemed very indifferent towards her presence there. The focus was that it's odd that she's in a place "like that" rather than on her and he says nothing positive about her.
exactly, he doesn’t indicate in pretty much any way that he holds romantic feelings for her in either of the timelines at this point in time. and as u said it’s probably similar to curiosity as to why she was in a “place like that”. he was mostly focused on the fact that she was treated in the same manner as him rather than cultivating any feelings. the him in this timeline just seems to want to repent and prevent what he had done in the past, so we initially cannot say his actions towards her were those born from the development of love like others said.
