I love a strong female lead, buuuuut not every story has to have that. And her backstory was fleshed out so well that you can understand why she acts like that. She was through abuse and neglect, her dad hit her then got healers to hide the evidence. Thats traumatizing as hell. She had no family support and was suddenly married off. She can take time to adjust and learn to be confident over time.
