She wants the duke position from her father. Since the oracle said she will kill him, she'll first 'kill' his social reputation and then quietly get rid of him once he's completely out of outside interference by i think poisoning him slowly and make it look like he died of extreme distress and anguish. That's just speculation for the second part tho, I'm not sure.
