In nature males are showing everything what they've got to female, this case Mikhail presents his abs & biceps to Fei. Didn't work.
Mikhail is like a colorful bird showing off his plumage, and Fei is difficult to impress since his own plumage is so fine.

So that was adorable. As much as I loved the Asami and Aki moments, I was highly amused by Mikhail taking off his shirt and basking in front of Fei while Fei reads a book and worries about his shoes. It's as if Mikhail can't understand what makes Fei tick (and thinks showing skin is seductive).
