Interesting as i think youre the one who cant grasp the whole story without bias. Because i just reread everything and not 1 scene showed or even implied he was trying to kill her. He was show holding her in contempt and said some hurtful words but NOT 1 scene was shown that he did abuse her as i have remembered. The one that was killed was the first empress (ml's first wife) by the duke aka fl's fake dad in order to raise the fl's status which i think you got confused with the fl. If you definition of toxic is simply from these short and superficial scenes, i do worry on how youre using the word. Because its not as simple as his personality is 'toxic', the story involves political wars and fights which as we might not know detailed from his side. So quick to judge him just because mc sees him as someone she wants to avoid and regret. He's not the same as a certain blue haired jealous stupid prince after all. Coughruve
