bc the ML said that if they let it go, the bird will have a hard time living outside of the cage. so it must only stay inside of the cage.

and since the bird and the FL resembles each other-- and since the FL chooses to stay in the cage (the ML) instead of running away, maybe she changed her mind and decided to not let go of the bird as well for its own safety
